I have loved dance for as long as I can remember. I was forever putting on performances for family members, willing or otherwise they would have to sit through my dance pieces choreographed to Nuttin Nice - Froggy Style, Foxy Brown and Case, TLC etc. etc... the list is long people! I think I am genetically pre-disposed to LOVE dance, in all it's simplicity and wonder.
Though my love of dance has fostered for many years, I started training later than some- Samba being my first choice of dance - or rather it chose me. I sambaed my way through the North of England with Samba D'Oxum (Ella and Eny) for a year and then moved back home to London.
Whilst living in Brasil in 2008 I sambaed with Estacio de Sa in the 2008 Rio Carnaval.
Since returning to the UK, I have returned to studying, to pursue a dance career. I have just completed a BTEC at Kensington and Chelsea college, and next I am going to study dance on the Foundation at Lewisham College.
I am currently samba dancer, coordinator and teacher with EDC London. I also attend and have processed the past three years with Paraiso School of Samba (Notting Hill Carnival).
I also attend many dance classes ranging from African to Hip Hop, and am currently assistant Akosua Boakye who is teaching Contemporary African Dance at The Place Summer School 2009.
