Ella worked her first semi professional dance jobs as a Salsa and Samba dancer in Bristol, before moving to Leeds to study. Upon completion of her degree, Ella apprenticed as a dancer for M and Em dance Company (Merville Jones- founder Phoenix member), specialising in Contemporary, Reggae, and Jazz Dance. Ella also set up Element Dance in 2005 and took dance teacher training with the National Dance Teacher’s Association (NDTA) qualified as an Aerobics Instructor.
Ella then danced, trained and lived in Brazil, performing with Circo Piccolino in Salvador, Brazil (combining dance with Aerial and Acrobatics) and in 2006, was invited to dance as a Passista (This is an audition only role not usually open to gringas in Rio de Janeiro Carnival). Ella’s company has taken her, (and members) across the globe, and to perform in many prestigious venues. In 2007, Ella moved to London to train at the Laban, London, (Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz), bringing Element Dance with her.
Ella was also been granted a scholarship to study Circus skills (Aerial and gymnastics) at the Circus Space, London. Ella becama Rainha (Queen) of the London School of Samba in 2009, and also came third in the International Samba Queen competition 2008. Since then, Ella has toured with 14 Amp, playing Juliet in a HipHop dance show Rome and Jules, and then been training in New York with many of the greatest mambo instructors on the Lisa Ullman travelling Scholarship. Upon returning to the UK, Ella will commence her final year of dance training, at The Place Conservatoire in London, whilst continuing to develop Element Dance, and work for other artists, including Susana Montero, Salsa Kingdom and The London School of Samba.
