Level 1 is for students who have completed the ‘fundamentals’
course or for those who have a secure grasp of the basic elements of salsa and partnered
dancing. At Level 1 (A, B, & C) the salsa student will continue to build on movement
learned and completed at the previous ‘fundamentals’ salsa classes. Level 1 has three sections
A, B, & C. In each of these sections new variations, new footwork/steps and salsa turn patterns will
be taught. A variety of new combinations and sequences will be created that will enhance
memory, continue development of technique while reinforcing timing principles and partnering
skills. As well, Cumbia style salsa will be introduced at the 1B session. At the completion of Levels
1A, 1B, and 1C the student will be ready to go on to Level 2 confident and armed with a full repertoire
of salsa dance movement.
